The 42LE4900 is a slide from one screen. Taking advantage of the diminutive LG spin on Edge LED backlight, it reaches back less than 30mm. It is also very affordable, retailing around 600 pounds, although this does not dent the specification.
Given the budget of the nature of TV design is decidedly upscale. We particularly like the central "standby" light on the base. This lights up red as a Cylon is peeper, anxious, if enabled.
The LE4900 is to send a friendly face. Once you have the hardware, that the 20-degree swivel base is already struggling, you're good to go. The screen has a well-designed Picture Wizard that lets you quickly set correct black and white levels, sharpness and color saturation can.
Navigation is done via simple tiled LG interface, and if that proves too unwieldy, there is a secondary quick menu to scoot around. Both are equally intuitive, enlivened by clear, understandable graphics.
