Sony BWU-500S Blu-Ray RW Drives unveiled

Sony Optiarc today unveiled the BWU-500S internal Blu-ray Disc (BD) rewritable drive that can write BD-R media at up to 12x and dual layer BD-R media at up to 8X speed, recording a full 25GB disc in about 10 minutes. The Sony BWU-500S comes with a 25GB Sony BD-R disc and CyberLink Media Suite 8 software for capturing, design, edit, back up, watching high-definition personal content and playback of Blu- ray Disc movies including 3D Blu-ray movies. The drive is also capable of recording with standard 4.7 GB DVD + /-R discs at up to 16x speed, 8.5 GB DVD + /-R Double / Dual Layer up to 8X DVD + RW at 8X maximum , DVD-RW up to 6X, CD-R up to 48x, CD-RW at up to 24X and supports DVD-RAM recording at 12x speed. The Sony BWU-500S is now available through authorized distributors, resellers and selected online sites.
